Yellow Tail Pinot Grigio is a "delicate"
white wine from a very popular Australian Winery, Casella.
Casella is one of the largest wineries in Australia and is
located in the small village of Yenda. Their Yellow Tail brand
has become a big hit in North America. According to The U.S.
Wine Market: Impact Databank Review and Forecast it is the
largest-selling imported wine in the United States and has
increased sales by more than 3 million cases from 2002 to
2003.
One of the first things you might notice about
this Yellow Tail Pinot Grigio is its clarity and very pale
yellow color. The best descriptor that comes to mind is
"straw". If you swirl the glass and examine the legs, you
notice that it has very pronounced legs.
I would describe the aroma as citric; mostly
grapefruit with undertones of green apple and pear. A bouquet
that actually belies the taste, since this wine is very subtle
on the palate.
