While at the state Wine and Spirits shop the other day, I picked up a bottle of Pio Cesare Moscato D’Asti 2004. This is a sparkling wine from the Piedmont region of Italy. With an alcohol content of 5%, I anticipated a light, sweet, sparking wine and it certainly is that. It has very fine bubbles and is not overly effervescent. My fiance, who as a rule does not care for sparkling wine, even liked it.
The aroma is that of delicate pears and pineapple. On the palate, I distinctly tasted pears and it has a mid-palate flowery quality. This Moscato D’Asti would make a great wine to celebrate almost any occasion.
